Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad at Workplace Trends Conclave Highlights the Role of Technology
The Workplace Trends Conclave held on 15th November in Delhi highlighted the trends shaping the Indian workplace.  Addressing the leaders of the commercial ventures, businesses and real estate, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad holding the Law and Justice, Communications and Electronics and Information Technology portfolios in the Government of India emphasize that technology has been a great leveller and has changed the way we work. “The IT segment has revolutionized the way we dress and o the places we work from. The ecommerce is riding the wave on the aspirations of smaller town’s population and is garnering its maximum business from tier-II & III cities. The young boys and girls are working from home and handling backend operations of MNCs. The role of technology is undeniable in the growth story of India and the new workplaces are fast changing keeping pace with the tech advancements.” Speaking at conclave, Anshuman Magazine, Chairman & CEO, India and South Asia , Middle East & Africa, CBRE said that it is extremely important to have a proper workplace because the biggest differentiator between a company’s success and failure is talent, and to attract and retain good talent, workplace plays a key role. “There has been exceptional change in the way we look at workplaces now compared to earlier times. For example seamless, agile office spaces are in style, focussing on collaborative office spaces.” Jitu Virwani, Chairman & MD, Embassy Group said that if we look at the last few years, the quantum of office space taken up by large corporates in India is one of the highest in the world. “India will be the top country in innovation as far as workspace is concerned in the next few years.” Karan Virwani CEO, WeWork India added that Co-working spaces are fast catching up in India as the India is a young country and is host to a large number of start-up for which shared spaces are economical as well as present collaborative environment.  “Though it’s a primarily urban trend, but even in tier 2, tier 3 cities there is a growing demand for Co-working workplaces.” Union Cabinet Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey addressed the industry experts and thought leaders on the Government’s  vision of advancing smart skills and New age technologies for connectivity, sustainability, design and Innovation to make the future of work more productive and accessible to women, youth and other communities. Eminent architects like Chris Bubb, Senior Partner, Foster + Partners, Alessandro Ranaldi, Head Workplace Consultancy and Partner, Foster + Partners, Martand Khosla and Sonali Rastogi & Manit Rastogi, Founding Partners, Morphogenesis deliberated on topics like Working with nature & culture, evolving design in future workplaces, measuring productivity in a workplace to sustainability in a workplace in today’s context. Avnish Singh, MD & Country Head India, Tishman & Speyer and Amit Grover, Executive Director, Office Business, DLF were part of the heated discussion on ‘Is Commercial real estate ready for future workplace’ while, Co-Working - ‘Crafting work and workplaces- Future of work with Co-working’ was the theme for the panel discussion that saw experts Anshul Jain, Country Head India, Cushman & Wakefield, Harsh Lambah, Country Manager India, Vice President- Sales, IWG, Abhishek Goenka CEO, CoWrks, Chulamas Jitpatima Indian Real Estate Director, MQDC, Amit Banerji, CEO & Founder, Table Space Technologies. Dr. Rubina Mittal, Event and Strategy Partner, India and Professor of Applied Mathematics Delhi University said, “Old business models are imploding and unsustainable imbalances between supply and demand have put huge additional strains on the governments. But at the same time many new industries are emerging and exploding with billion dollar valuations.” Tushar Mittal, MD, SKV and India Partner for Workplace Trends talking about the event said, “With the debut of Workplace Trends in India, SKV is providing a unique opportunity to connect innovators and inventors.” Nigel Oseland, a Co-founder of Workplace Trends Conferences and Founder Workplace Unlimited and Maggie Procopi, Owner and Manager of the Workplace Trends series of conferences added, “We are absolutely delighted and very excited to be bringing the Workplace Trends Conference to India.”
