The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is set to develop the ‘New Agra Urban Center’ on both sides of the Yamuna Expressway. The authority is currently creating a blueprint for this project. The agency responsible for preparing the master plan has been instructed to conduct a new survey to outline the design for the new city.
Following the revision, both the area of the New Agra Urban Center and the number of villages are expected to increase. The deadline for completing the draft master plan is one month. The previous blueprint of New Agra Urban Center was prepared by US based, Tractwell Sky Group in association with Enzyme Company.
The blueprint had 10,500 hectares of land including 60 villages of Etmadpur, Agra. In the survey only one side of the expressway was included. Since, lack of survey in other side could lead to illegal occupation of the land, the CEO of YEIDA, Dr Arunvir Singh, has decided to include the villages of both sides of the expressway in the new masterplan.
Villages to be verified physically Additionally, 80 per cent of the villages included in the survey belonged to Hathras. Due to this the agency has been directed to include notified villages of Agra in New Agra Urban Centre on priority. YEIDA has instructed the agency to prepare the blueprint of the masterplan by physically verifying the villages on the spot with satellite maps.
Miniatures of famous places to be made the new city is expected to be developed into a major center of cultural heritage, environment, industrial and transportation activities. The plan includes making miniatures of famous parks and monuments of the country and the world. The new draft prepared will be included in Masterplan-2041 and sent to the Uttar Pradesh Government. The city will comprise of several small townships. For proper management of city’s traffic, a strong system is planned to be made. The plan will boost the local economy by boosting tourism and providing job opportunities.
